15 Ways To Market-proof Your Business
1. Keep pushing — don't just wait out the storm. You can get discouraged because you see other REALTORS® dropping out of the industry, or you can leverage this opportunity to market yourself and get your name out there since there's less competition.
2. Try new niches based on what you do well. Let's take mountain biking for example. If you love to bike, start a Saturday morning riding group. Once you have a few members, have some "team" t-shirts printed with your business logo. Hand out Gatorade to everyone after the ride. For the golf lovers, set up a website about your expertise on golf-course front homes and how you can uniquely market them. The point is to pick a niche that you can relate to, and really reach out to that group. Get serious about it.
3. Dig into the nooks and crannies of your contact list. Call up the old clients... that sweet new couple you sold to a few years ago may be outgrowing their home with family additions and in the market for more space. An efficient and effective way to stay "top of mind" for your contacts is to set them up on a drip marketing campaign. It's easy to do in XSellerate, and you can set all kinds of triggers to send out e-mails, such as birthdays, holidays, seasonal tips, etc.

Q: As more and more agents wash out of the industry, what are the opportunities for agents that have made a commitment to see this through?
Rusty: Less competition means more available market share. To me that means it’s time to increase marketing and build top-of-mind awareness in as many potential customers as possible so that when the time is right for them to act, they’ll think of you. I think agents should consider ramping up their marketing right now (doing it smartly), focusing more on automated marketing, and building a network of websites to attract as many clients across a broad spectrum as possible. If you can do that successfully, the payoff will be significant as the market rebounds. Today is the day to sow the fields so that tomorrow you can reap the harvest.
